Técnico Lisboa at NAFSA 2022

Monday, August 8th, 2022

Inspired by Técnico Lisboa motto, A School for the World and with the aim of sedimenting and increasing the number of international partnerships of reference, Instituto Superior Técnico was present at the largest education fair in the USA, NAFSA: Association of International Educators. This year’s event took place from 31 May to 3 June, in Denver, Colorado, and had as its main theme to trace and develop paths for a sustainable future of international education. The global international education community came together to discuss and share the latest innovations, new strategies and best practices for establishing and building tailored institutional partnerships.

Portugal was presented for the first time in a joint organization between the Fulbrigt Portugal Commission, Fundação Luso-Americana and Agência Nacional Eramus+. Follow the Sun, Study and Research in Portugal was the topic chosen for the stand that was attended by about 50 representatives from 19 Portuguese Higher Education institutions.

Técnico registered its fourth participation in this event, which in 2021 took place exclusively in a virtual format. In 2022, under the USA-Portugal Campus initiative, the University of Lisbon had a wider representation, with the participation of representatives from the Rectory, Instituto Superior Técnico, ISEG and FLUL.

With professionals from over 100 countries represented by hundreds of exhibitors at the fair, Portugal stood out through the representation of several HEIs and its own stand. Follow the Sun, Study and Research in Portugal, a space designed with national products such as cork or burel, where the Sun was an element of attraction.

Técnico, represented by the International Affairs Area, had the opportunity to review old partners, renegotiate partnerships and initiate contacts with future objectives. Increasing the offer of Double Degrees and Joint Degrees, promoting partnerships with renowned institutions, creating competitive opportunities and presenting ourselves at internationally referenced events is part of our international strategy and characterises us as A School for the World.
