DX.SEA: Strategic partnership drives innovation and digital transformation in higher education in Southeast Asia
Técnico Lisboa – ULisboa is part of the European consortium of the DX.SEA project (“Accelerating Digital Transformation for Higher Education Institutions in Southeast Asia”), funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) program. This project aims to enhance and support the digital transformation of higher education institutions in Southeast Asia, promoting more modern, sustainable, and inclusive teaching models.
DX.SEA focuses on creating digital strategic plans, developing innovative institutional policies, producing contemporary pedagogical materials, and intensive team training through the Train for Trainers program. Expected outcomes include the implementation of institutional digital plans and policies, strengthened campus ICT infrastructures, digital learning management systems, and transversal training programs for designing digital content, fostering effective remote teaching and high-quality assessment.
The consortium includes leading universities and research centers from Europe and Southeast Asia. European partners include Técnico Lisboa – ULisboa (Portugal), Universidad de Granada (Spain), as well as institutions from Latvia, Estonia, and the Czech Republic. Southeast Asian participants include universities such as the University of Technology Malaysia (Malaysia), Institute of Technology of Cambodia (Cambodia), and National University of Laos (Laos), among others.
In June 2025, the DX.SEA Digital Learning Lab (DXseal) was inaugurated a collaborative space dedicated to innovation, sharing digital best practices, and joint development among project partners. The initiative seeks to empower faculty and technical staff to ensure excellence in digital teaching and promote the creation of open portals for educational resources and continuous training centers aimed at sustaining digital transition in the involved countries.
The involvement of Técnico Lisboa – ULisboa in this project reinforces the leadership of Portuguese universities in international networks dedicated to educational innovation, fostering new opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and enhancement of digital practices in higher education.
