Técnico Lisboa’s Admissions Office recently hosted an informal gathering named “International Café” for admitted International Students for the 2023/2024 academic year. This session aimed to address their integration experiences and challenges, within both the Técnico Lisboa’s community and Portuguese society.

Tunahan Günes shared his experience while starting “the best application process”: Técnico Lisboa’s. “There was a massive Earthquake in Turkey and I was not able to have access to my computer for 6 days. I was in the affected area”.

The Turkish student expressed deep gratitude, thanking the members of the Admissions Office team for their invaluable support during these challenging times throughout the application process.

The focus was on gathering feedback from current students to enhance continuous improvement and adaptation on events, strategies and plans of integration and welcome. Students shared their own stories, highlighting cultural exchange alongside language and cultural barriers. They also voiced their needs from academic support to social integration initiatives.

The “International Café” was not just a social gathering but a valuable opportunity to strengthen bonds within the Técnico Lisboa’s community creating a support network for international students. As Técnico Lisboa continues to expand its international reach, events like this play a crucial role in establishing an inclusive and vibrant academic community.
