LATIN AMERICAN EUROPEAN NETWORK IN SOCIAL SUPPORT FOR ONLINE

The Latin American European Network in social support for Online Gaming (LAENOG) project is a European and Latin American partnership gathering both researchers and universities, aiming to become a leading platform in support of young video game players (YVGP) and their parents/educators from Europe to Latin America. That is the reason why full partners decide to join their forces for building up an eLearning-based platform that consolidates tools, resources, and training material for YVGP (14-18 yo) and their parents/educators.

This platform will help the European partners (3 Universities) to capacity building the Latin American partners (4 Universities) in order to share knowledge within the framework of online social competencies and outreach this target
group towards the online toxic behaviours (e.g., discrimination, racism, cyber-bullying, closeness and intolerance).

The project has four main objectives:

• MICRO-ANALYSING of the young video game players’ risks and toxic behaviours;
• DEVELOPING pedagogical tools to train young players and their parents/educators;
• EXCHANGING the best-practices across European and Latin American countries;
• OUTREACHING the effects of pedagogical tools over time through the “Video Game Social Observatory – VGSO”.

The project’s website, the Self-Assessment Tool, the MOOC, the video capsules, the discussing forums, the VGSO and the results/ conclusions will be essential deliverables mainstreamed by the partners and shared beyond the funding period, thus generating growing interest in the adoption of similar actions and re-use of the proposed tools and questionnaires by other higher education institutions, esports clubs and associations, publishers and developers and any other related organisations.
