Short Term Mobility for Doctoral Students (Erasmus+)

General Information

Doctoral students at Técnico Lisboa may participate in short-term mobility periods for traineeships tailored to the specific needs of this type of training, through the Erasmus+ Programme.

They may therefore carry out an international mobility period in research laboratories, attend short training courses, or engage in any other activities related to their study programme.

The Erasmus grant is compatible with other FCT grants and scholarships, as long as they do not come from a European fund. Before proceeding with the application, candidates must check wether they meet this requirement.

Conditions

A mobility for doctoral candidates internship may have a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 30 days.

These internships can take place in a company or in a Higher Education Institution (in which the student will not undertake a period of study, but acquire work experience), in a country of the Program (*).

Any company in the public or private sector, which carries out an economic activity, is eligible for an Erasmus internship.

Students are responsible for finding their internship location and initiating their first contacts with entities of interest and according to the work they intend to develop.

The student must agree on an internship program with his advisor and the person in charge at the host institution. This internship program identifies:
• The activities to be developed;
• The skills to be acquired;
• The tasks to be performed by the student at the host institution;
• The form of evaluation of the internship.

(*) EU countries + Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia and Turkey.

Eligible Countries and Financial Support

The participants in these mobilities will receive, regardless of the country of the host institution, a financial support consisting of the following:

  • 70€/day between the 1st and the 14th day;
  • 50 EUR/day between the 15th and the 30th day.

It should be noted that the Erasmus grant is compatible with other funding, provided that it does not come from European funds. In the case of FCT grant holders, it is necessary to check the compatibility between grants.

For each study cycle, students may benefit from up to 12 months of Erasmus+ grant funding. A doctoral student can receive up to 12 months of support under Erasmus+ throughout the entire duration of their study cycle.

In the case of short-term mobility for doctoral candidates, only two applications are allowed per academic year.
