Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)

General Information

Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) constitute an innovative model of learning, teaching and training, combining both on-site and online components. These programmes are developed and implemented by a minimum of three Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from at least three European Union Member States or associated countries, and are funded under the Erasmus+ mobility programme.

BIPs are short, intensive programmes that promote challenge-based and inquiry-based learning. They combine virtual collaboration with short-term physical mobility abroad (typically of one week’s duration), enabling participants to engage in teaching and training activities with experts from all partner institutions.

Eligibility and Applications

The programme is open to students enrolled at Técnico Lisboa who have a regularised academic status, as well as to academic and administrative staff.

Applications for mobility are accepted throughout the year and must be submitted at least 60 days in advance.

Application Documents

Applicants are required to submit the following documentation:

The Learning Agreement for Studies must bear the signatures of the student, the Erasmus course coordinator/supervisor at Técnico, and the responsible person at the host institution.

The Student Form must be signed by the student and by NMPI (request via shortcourses@tecnico.ulisboa.pt).

For academic and administrative staff, the Mobility Agreement for Training must be signed by the participant and the host institution. The Staff Form must be signed by the participant. The signatures of the institutional Erasmus+ coordinator and the responsible person at the home institution will be collected by NMPI.

Application Procedure

The application, together with all required documentation, must be submitted through the official application form, available here.

Mobility Grants

Individual financial support for students, academic staff and administrative staff undertaking physical mobility is provided by the sending institution, which may allocate its regular Erasmus+ mobility funds. As a general rule, the physical mobility component has a duration of five days, funded by a daily grant of €79.

Students who are Erasmus grant holders/beneficiaries of another type of EU funding in the semester in which the BIP takes place will not be able to receive Erasmus+ funding to take part in the BIP. In other words, double funding is not permitted – PhD students must ensure that they meet this requirement.

Recognition

The minimum duration of the virtual component is not defined, but the combined virtual and in-person mobility must award students a minimum of 3 ECTS credits.
