Welcome to the UNICATION training session hosted by Instituto Superior Técnico (IST)/Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) in Lisbon, Portugal.

We are excited to have you join us for this significant event under the project “Unify Communication by International Projects in Cambodia and Philippines” (UNICATION).

Travel and accommodation costs will be covered under the UNICATION Erasmus+ project funding, so please contact the Local Project Coordinator at your university.

Project Background

The UNICATION project is funded by the Erasmus+ program under Capacity Building in Higher Education. It aims to enhance the capabilities of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Cambodia and the Philippines by focusing on communication, interculturality, and project management. The project spans two years, from December 2023 to November 2025, and involves partners from both Europe and Asia, fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Training Focus: Improving communication skills and competencies for managing international projects

 

Key Objectives:

  • Enhance the skills of staff in HEIs’ international offices in Cambodia and the Philippines.
  • Foster international cooperation between HEIs in Asia and Europe.
  • Develop innovative approaches to international project management with a focus on communication.

Campus venues where the following events will be held:

  • Open Ceremony at the Civil Eng. Building, Congress Center (Centro Congressos: -1 floor).
  • Workshops at the Main building, Grand Hall (Salão Nobre: 1st floor).

Meals: Lunch and Coffe Break will be provided on all training days. Participants are encouraged to explore local dining options for other meals.

Accommodation: Participants are advised to book their accommodation early due to high demand in Lisbon.

Lisbon is a great value destination in general, but accommodation and flights should always be booked well in advance. Lisbon is the destination of major events which will increase the hotel rates. The accommodation proposed, which is around Técnico Lisboa, and the availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition, there are many Airbnb apartments available at very reasonable prices. Overall, accommodation in Lisbon is of very good quality.

 

Lisbon

Técnico Lisboa is located in the city of Lisbon, one of the oldest and most beautiful capitals. Through time, we received many cultures from the different corners of the world. Lisbon is a soulful, fashionable, charismatic city with a great climate and a lot of sunshine. It’s a place where you can wander around day or night and still feel safe.

However, Lisbon is also a dynamic city, a hotspot of innovation, rich in start-ups and spin-offs, international awards, home top-ranked universities boosting several top-level research institutions where work leading to many highly cited papers and scientific publications originates. Not only because of its history, but also because of its innovation and state of the art technology, the climate and cosmopolitan atmosphere and diverse indoor and outdoor activities. Lisbon is one of the most attractive cities in Europe, offering mobility students, locals and visitors an unforgettable and unique experience.

Travel: Lisbon is well connected by air, with Lisbon Airport (LIS) being the main entry point.

IST is easily accessible by metro, bus, or taxi from the airport.
