International Student

Who can apply?

International Students are students of foreign nationality, other than that of a Member State of the European Union, who have not been legally residing in Portugal for more than two years uninterruptedly, as of January 1st of the year in which they intend to enter higher education, as well as their children who are legally residing with them. Regular International Students are also considered all students who are not family members of Portuguese or nationals of other European Union countries. Change of Course/Institution

Who can apply?

The entry regime by change of course/institution, is intended for students of the 1st cycle (Bachelor) who want to enroll in a 1st cycle (Bachelor) of a degree different from the one in which they last enrolled. It is also intended for students who wish to enroll in the same course but in a different institution from the one in which they last enrolled. Under this regimen, students from Instituto Superior Técnico, national students and international students can apply. Here you can find all the information about this regime.

Holders of Middle Level and Higher Education Courses

Who can apply?

Holders of a higher, middle or post-secondary course, namely master’s degree (2nd cycle), bachelor’s degree (1st cycle) and technological specialization diploma and holders of a higher professional degree may apply for this special access regime. This special access regime is available to national and European Union students/citizens. You can find more information here.

Over the age of 23 (Mature Students)

Who can apply?

This special admission regime is intended for national students, who complete 23 years of age by December 31 of the year preceding the application, who do not hold a higher education qualification and do not have previously attended higher education. Master (2nd cycle) Programme

Who can apply?

  • Students of a 1st cycle course (bachelor programme), without scientific coherence with the 2nd cycle course to which they apply, may apply for a Master’s degree;
  • Holders of a 1st cycle degree in the area of Science and Technology and have a academic, scientific or professional curriculum that attests to their capacity to carry out the master’s degree to which they apply;
  • National students, European Union students, Regular International students, Técnico Lisboa students and external students may apply.
